Any ideas what this could be?
When I use the large front ring and on the third rear it sounds noisy. If I move up (smaller) on the rear it disappears or reduces. Does this sound like the third gear on the cassette has worn more than the others.

Is it a continual noise, or does it come as a repeating pattern? It may be that there's a bent tooth on the rear cog.

It could be the cage on the front derailleur rubbing the chain. I count the top 3 rear using the large chainring and the smaller 3 rear with the small chainring as out of bounds as I think it's bordering on what the chain can cope with anyway without creating additional wear due to the "drive angle" of the chain.

Does it happen in the smaller front chain ring?

should have said the cassette is a 6 speed. Ok it's not rubbing on the front selector and its a continual noise like its not aligned but its quieter in the other gears hmm

I've had a closer look and I think the chain is knackered. Think I'll buy another and see what happens.

Thanks for the pointers guys
