Could you please give me a clue which of these systems I should get as a pressie for my husband?

I looked at these: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Innovations_Inflation_Kit/5300004665/#more

but I don't know if they inflate on their own (ie everything you need is in that pack) or if extra kit is required. On another thread here someone recommended the continental saddle bags with inner tube & levers and I thought something like this would be good with the co2 stuff together.

Hubby has a road bike and a MTB but uses his MTB most, but on the road (he says it's harder work to get a MTB over distance on the road so it must be a better workout! I call him manorexic!).

Any advice gratefully received.

Personally I think they are a waste of money, you can’t beat a good pump

I purchased a Bontranger road rush mini pump with a co2 pump also.

I would say they are good in an emergency as they are so fast at getting the tire inflated, but you need a pump aswell, take a look at the one I got its a combi of both, although I it takes 276 pumps to inflate a tire to 100psi !.

Sorry for the late response, I ride with one of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Innovations_Ultraflate_Plus_Pump/5360007672/ and it does the job - I leave it in a saddle bag which I easily switch between my mountain bike and road bike. I've used it many times and find it a lot quicker than pumping, can inflate my road bike tyre in a couple of seconds. I normally carry a couple of 16g cartridges.

If you do buy one get one with a cover over the Gas cartridges as they get pretty cold when let off. I believe with this one you can use threaded and unthreaded cartridges and it works with both types of valves. Also fits nicely in my coat pocket.
