hello and welcome to the forum.

I've not done this route so cannot offer much advice but I hope you enjoy it.

tyres? what sort of bike do you have and what size wheels?

If what you already have is in good repair use them. It's a not too demanding ride and any tyre that fits your rims will do.

I'd worry more about suitable warm clothing.

Welcome s d.

I did the Coast & Castles ride last summer, and we spread it out over 3 and a half days!

While we deliberately decided to go at a leisurely pace so we could enjoy the coast and castles, I would think twice about trying to do it in just two days unless you are super fit and lightly loaded. The route from Tynemouth to Berwick is undulating all the way, and once you are beyond Berwick there are some fairly steep hills to get over.

There are some significant off road sections south of Berwick, including several miles along a grass track, so I would not recommend you try and ride it on narrow tyres. I used 28mm Continental touring tyres and they were mostly fine, but anything narrower would have been hard going on the off road sections.
