I bought one of these but I managed to get it for £11 at the time, which I thought was a great price!

I buy bags of Italian Blend ground coffee from Lidl for not-a-lot and it is good enough for me. (Having said that, I must try some of the others that they sell to see what I think of them. I did try the French Blend when they were out of Italian but it was a bit weaker so I stuck with the Italian after that.)

Aldi's Ethiopian blend was rated as a best buy for value AND flavour about a year ago.
I find a cafetiere is quick and easy, water just off the boil and a tiny pinch of salt added to the coffee, a short plunge to push the coffee below the water then lift the plunger and leave for 4 minutes before a final plunge and pour.

I also have an Oomph as featured on Dragon's Den this week. Great for coffee for one....but I don't like drinking out of it and it does spill a bit when I pour it into a proper China mug.

Another B2C fan here - an aged Siemens (made by Jura I believe, at that time) that just keeps making great coffee when fed Happy Donkey beans (not a euphemism!). An absolute world away from pods in quality and cost.

Never tried adding salt before. There's a project to start tomorrow morning....

We don't have an Aldi yet, but there are plans to bring one to the town. I'll certainly be checking their products once it arrives.

I add a small amount of honey to my coffee. Probably equivalent to half a teaspoon of sugar in a full mug. I don't fancy adding salt!

You can have one of mine, three within a 4 mile radius..
It might be tricky carrying the store over on the bike!

There is going to be some serious competition for an Aldi here because Lidl are building a new store several times bigger than the current one.

Getting back to coffee ... Lidl do stock quite a selection so I think that I will try one of the other blends when my bag of Italian Blend runs out.

It really is only a tiny pinch - connoisseurs believe it helps extract the fullest flavour.
You may have to change your tag line from full time tea drinker to full time tea and/or coffee drinker.

We’ve had 3 tassimo machines over the years. They’re crap. The Mrs likes them, I don’t. I like decent coffee so I have a cafetière and a mokka pot for espresso. Wife hasn’t replaced the pod machine, yet.

i'm a coffee nut. over the years i've done them all, but for sheer convenience, speed, variety and quality you cant go far wrong with nespresso. I've had one for longer than any other coffee making gizmo.
