Speaking of greasy and salty, what's KFC all about?

A bucket of spiced and salted lard and random animal bones with a picture of George Michael on the side. Youd need a serious grudge against yourself to eat that.

My vegetarian Sister in Law worked in a KFC during Uni. If I told people the state of the place and the lack of hygiene they would never eat in one again 🤢

We went out for lunch on Monday to a cafe in Grosmont and ended taking with the owner who had been a chef in various restaurants and pubs in the area for years before setting up on his own. He told a tale of being offered a job in one pub/ restaurant but asked were the owners expecting him to work in the kitchen in its current state. When asked what he meant, he said he would be happy to work for the owners but he wouldn’t work in their kitchen till it had a deep clean.
They got it cleaned.

I like Costa coffee, but only when using the app and our own cups.

You get 2 beans (10 needed for free drinks) instead of 1 when using your own cup. If you're buying more than 1 drink make sure to put the orders through separately as it only gives double beans once per order.

I saw a video yesterday, about a bike packing shop in Manchester called "Keep Peddling". Very trendy, with price's to match. They were selling coffee in a tube, a bit like condensed milk in a tube."Interesting idea", I thought. I looked up what they cost on-line - £13 a tube. I'll stick with instance.

I used to like KFC at one point
The 3 piece "meal" was OK - a bit greasy but whatever - and the chips were better than McDs

there was a gap of several years when we never went there and I tried it on the way back from somewhere and it was terrible
floors and places were dirty and the staff were reduced to a point where they took too long to do anything

and the chips had become limp and soggy

tried again a few times since and it has been the same

and anyway - we generally only use burger places when the grand kids are here and need something fast so we never get a chance anyway

and nowadays I am not allowed to eat anything with gluten so it is all out anyway
except fries - probably
(and salad but really???)

KFC during lockdown I had a really bad habbit of getting a family bucket, the 20 pieces one, and gorging myself on it over a couple of days. Haven't had one for ages. I did try some chicken recently from one of the copycats - called HFC - and it was absolutely rank, just threw the whole lot out. I've deleted JustEat now after the cocked up my last order which was eventually refunded, its probably for the best!

Did somebody say "Just pay someone else to bring food to me and also pay an inflated price for the food so that I can " Just Eat?

I really hate takeaway delivery. And it's not even the inflated prices or the gig workers on illegal bikes. It's the lack of trust. Funny isn't it that every time when you ring chasing your order, "it's just going out of the door". Whether it's been 15 mins late or 2 hours.

I'll often order online or phone then go collect. It's a lot harder to fob you off when you're standing there glaring at them.

At home, I always go and collet, whether I've ordered online or over the phone.

See I used to love JustEat, and its old competitor HungryHouse. I forget which one started on Dragons Den but as somone that has had some pretty terrible service from some takeaways when you used to have to call direct it was a breath of fresh air. Order online, pay online, gets delivered. I actually started with the old option of pay cash on delivery to avoid an extra card fee.

Then they stopped that option, added a bag fee, prices crept up and it became a monopoly when HungryHouse closed.

Now it charges a Delivery Fee, and a Service Fee. All the prices online are above what you pay in the shop. My last order (that they lost) was for 6 x Greggs Pasties which checking back worked out over £2.40 each. I must have been mad.....

We were in Zizzi's last week and there was a steady stream of delivery riders knocking on the door. Observed that the waiters placed the orders in a presumably heated cupboard, but it was often 5 minutes before the delivery rider turned up. Then optimistically, it will take another 10 mins at least to deliver.

So your food is at least 15mins old before it reaches you.

Which is the main reason why I always go and get it

and the fact that I hate waiting for something to happen - but mostly just the food being an unknown number of minutes old
