Some years ago now, I was on holiday in Nerja in Spain with the in-laws. We went out for dinner, and as we crossed the town square my old neighbour, from nine years previously, crossed the square in front of me

Many years ago - in the 1970s - I went to work ona farm for a few week with my friend
His brother-in-law and sister owned the farm and just wanted a couple of lads they could trust to get stuff done

Anyway - it was in Canada - and out in the sticks somewhat
nearest place was the railway stop - farm goods only - mostly wheat being the middle fo Canada!
The stop was basically just the 2 farmhouses for the biggest farms together and a train staop nearby
no town or anything like that
There were a few smaller farms nearby and we were on one of them

Anyway - my parents took the opportunity to go off on holiday themselves to the North of Scotland - we lived ion Merseyside so it was some distance away

anyway - my parents stoped in a car park with a scenic view and all that and my Mum took the dog off for a walk along the cliff tops
My Dad was disabled so just stayed behind - leaning on the car and looking at the view

Another car pulled up - same make and model so they got chatting

Turns out it was a hire car
the people were from Canada

they were the people from one of the 2 farmhouse near the train stop in the place I was staying
they were on holiday themselves and just happened to stop in that specific car park at that time and meet someone who son was staying a few miles from their famr - in the middle of nowhere - 3 thousand miles away

A couple of times we have been on holiday expecting my brother to arrive later. On 2 occasions I have wondered where he was to see him drive past at that moment. 2 different cars so it wasn't the sound of the car that I recognised.

A coincidence but not a strange one...
As ive taken up photography and love wildlife i frequent a local country park and have got to see a few similar minded people regularly..one is very seriously good with the camera, I was walking and chatting with him for maybe an hour Friday.
During the convoy former work was mentioned and it turns out he is the brother to a guy I knew at work ...ooh around 45 years ago.

When I was a kid, we were at the tip and I saw a giant, blue and white teddy, which I was desperate to get.

My parents were not too pleased, but, I brought it home. My Mum even sewed a new eye on it for me.

Now, this thing was nearly as big as I was (so probably very difficult to wash... And it was at the dump).

Anyway, we had family friends around one day and they were suddenly highly amused as... That was their teddy and they had just thrown it out!

I kept that teddy for ages... Until my Mum threw it out one day (I hated it when that happened - Things would just suddenly disappear 🙄🤦‍♂️).

I'm 79 and still have a teddy i found when I was about 7 years old.
Its only small though, maybe 10" tall.

My Mum binned the lot one day without telling me. No idea why.

Well, ok, except for a small, orange, stuffed Lion I won at a funfair, but I think it only survived because it was elsewhere at the time. It was not even one of my 'original' teddies either.
My brother got to keep his though. Yet again, I don't know why.

Ironically, my Mum then started collecting teddies and suddenly liked that Lion, the bloody cheek of it! . 🙄🤦‍♂️😆

I also have a small dog that I made at school - He is flat though and I called him 'Sausage', as he's a flat sausage dog!

I still had most of my teddies (etc) when I moved out to my own house at 23!!

one or two had mysteriously disappeared

including George

I was so young when my Aunt knitted him that he was in Everton colours!!!!!

My Mum's family liked Everton (not supported - liked ) rather than Liverpool
when I was quite young I realised that this was NOT the path of wisdom and changed to Liverpool
but not young enough to prevent George being the wrong colour!!!

still one of my favourites though - I presume the thread started coming apart at some point and my Mum chucked him in the bin!

I still have Teddy

I was always wary of him as he growled when you pressed him tummy
so basically when a baby cuddles him

although that broke very early on and he only growled when you tipped him in certain directions

I always wanted him in my room - and in sight - but never in or on my bed
which is probably why he has survived

The grand kids know that he is NOT for them - as his head is rather over wobbly nowadays

I suppose he is nearly as old as me!!

Without his ear in the way, that black patch looks a little odd, but I knew sod all about dogs at the time.

The brown patch... Well, the sewing is genuinely my handiwork (as is most of it) and is now worn, so I know it looks a little bit crap, but I don't care.

My Mum (ironically), made the tail for him.

The first two pictures are crap, I know:

All felt, fleece (except for the tail) and questionable stitching! 😆

That ear also needs seeing to, as does the tongue/mouth.

He is mine though, he's my own creation!

I saw myself in an amateur porn film that had been posted online. It had been made for personal use long before the internet. Fortunately I wouldn't be recognizable from it now.

What are the odds of walking down the aisle in Sainsbury's and seeing someone wearing a T-shirt with both your parent's names on it? (Not hairy Dick & wet Fanny)
