Coincidences.....what are your strangest?

What are the odds of walking down the aisle in Sainsbury's and seeing someone wearing a T-shirt with both your parent's names on it? (Not hairy Dick & wet Fanny)

I would have thought it would be more of a coincidence if said T shirt had hairy dick & wet fanny rather than something else.🤷🏼‍♂️

I met my niece today who told me they were off to Vancouver, I told her we are going to Toronto. When are you going Uncle she asked? I told her sixteen weeks today. We compared our holiday itinerary and they fly BA from Heathrow T3 at 17.20 we fly also from T3 same date but 15 minutes before their BA flight. We have arranged a family get together at the T3 bar.

I met a female friend in Bristol thanks to another mutual friend. Chatting, it turned out she studied Geology in Liverpool, so did I but I assumed she may have gone to the University whereas I was at the Polytechnic (1980's). She said it was the polytechnic which had several sites, so I enquired which one....it was the same site and she was there at the same time, although in the year above me. Probably went on the same field trips but I don't remember her. What are the chances of running into someone who went to the same college at the same time, studied the same subject and over a decade later you run into them?.

A friend had done some work on super yacht's and was looking for more work. Rang a agent in the UK and had a chat saying just that.
A month later he went to visit his parents near Cairns, Australia. While there he went a walk and his phone rang. It was the agent, would he be prepared to fly to Australia for a job.
Realising what was in front of him he tried to stop the agent from explaining all the details as it was just too big a coincidence.
In the end he just said `What's the captains name, as I am next the ship now.' Went on board had a chat and got the job.
They were all quite stunned.

How about this at Prescott Hill climb? Each 30s Riley had arrived independently and I don't think the owners particularly knew each other and hadn't previously seen each other's vehicles. Both cars, different models, had likely left the factory (or dealership) the same day, or at least very close together.

I moved to London from Hereford in 1982. The night before I left i went to The Bowlers pub for a last few pints with my mates.

Two days later, before college began, bored in my new flat, I took the tube from Wimbledon to Covent Garden to have a wander around the West End.

I stepped out of the tube station, turned left and physically bumped into a bloke who'd been sat at the next table in The Bowlers.

I walked into a pub in Bristol just after Christmas one year. My mate went to the bar and i grabbed a table. The four blokes on the next table started pointing and laughing at me.

They apologised, then one of them explained. They'd been taking the piss out of the two blokes at their table who'd both arrived wearing the same M&S jumper, bought by their mums.

I was wearing the same jumper, bought by my mum.

At which point another chap walks in, takes his coat off. Same jumper.

That is a lovely example. And it made me think back, a few times that sort of thing has happened to me though I don't remember the details.

I do have hazy recollections of seeing someone I'd never seen before in the city centre, and then seeing them again the next day, and then never seeing them again

I played Rugby with a Kiwi for a couple of years until his visa ran out - much as he wanted to stay in the UK, he had no alternative than to go back to NZ. At the end of his farewell drinks party at the club, I asked where he was going to live back in NZ. He said he was going to Wellington, wrote the address down on a beer mat just in case I found myself over there - I put this in my wallet and forgot about it.

Some months later I was at a business conference in a hotel where one of the guest speakers was from New Zealand. There was a welcome dinner the night before the conference and my boss told me to sit next to the guy from New Zealand so we could "talk Rugby all night" which we pretty much did. At some point I asked him whereabouts in NZ he was from. "Wellington" came the reply.

"Oh!" says I, "a mate of mine moved back there some time ago".

"Whereabouts in Wellington?" he asked.

I remembered about my ex team mate writing the address down, took my wallet out and found the crumpled bit of beermat with my team mates address on it.

"Bloody hell mate!" he said "I used to live in that house . . . "

I did that, but found they squashed very easily and were far too small.

Similar story - I worked in an office with my mate Dave. Dave was looking at houses and had just had an offer accepted on one. He was proudly showing it around the office when his boss came over, looked at the house and said "wow, we lived there a few years ago!". Only for his boss's boss to come over and say "OMG, so did we in 2003"

Similar story: went to a wedding in the West of Ireland. The groom's brother got chatting to a friend who mentioned she lived in Clapham. "Oh, whereabouts?" ... "Me too, which street?" <pause> "which number?" Turned out they'd lived in the same rented shared house at different times. She was from Doncaster and the groom's family from Bromley

On two occasions at two separate properties whilst working as a plumber handyman in York ive worked at homes which later sold and ive been approached by the new owners to do work for them. The new owners found me through a leaflet on a notice board and through recommendation. The original owners and new owners had never met or communicated with each other.

Just had a pretty funny one.
Old friend of ours, we have a coffee once a week at a local cafe. She went through the same 18 months ago and we kinds support each other a bit, nice to relax and just let stuff out.
On the way there i passed a set of keys placed on an service box (street lighting perhaps)...oh, someone's lost their keys.

Had coffee, we are walking back, I said I just want to pick up some keys someone's lost, I will post them on a local FB page.

Within seconds we were there, I reached to them to pick em up and she exclaimed
'theyre mine, I lost them last week !!!!'
