I think I have found he answer. I don't know what you would call the thing but it is a triangle of 'Polar" with a velcro fastening I put it around my neck and pull it up as needed. It is not that cold here yet (11 C) so not a real test yet. I was offered the vaseline option by a back woods skier in the form of bear grease but I have a feeling that might increase the attention from dogs.
