I've been hearing about a collision between a cyclist and a ped (knocked out) in Bothwell Street this morning, just outside Barclays. Wasn't anyone from on here was it?

The last collision between a cyclist and ped I read about - the cyclist ended up with a broken hip. The pedestrian walked off. It was in one of the papers at work. The idea scares the hell out of me...

I'm hoping that it might be someone on here.

Not having witnessed it myself, I'm not in a position to say who was at fault. All I know is a collision occurred and the pedestrian, in his 50s, and was hit hard enough to knock him horizontal to shoulder height before dropping to the ground heavily. He was briefly knocked out and his laptop and smartphone went spinning across the street. The cyclist came off too but by all accounts was uninjured.

Now, regardless of who was at fault, it appears that the cyclist subsequently left the scene without giving his details to the injured man or anyone else. While there may be no legal obligation on him to do this, or indeed to report it to the police, I'd have hoped he would acknowledge his moral obligation to do so.

Here's where it happened.

I believe the injured man has reported it to the police and I'd like to think the cyclist would contact the local station and identify himself. It would be the decent thing to do.

Was the collision on the road or the pavement?

Road.

Ped had crossed from south footpath and was 3/4 across when he was hit. Cyclist claims ped walked in front of him, ped claims cyclist came off the north footpath at speed without looking.
