Ok, confession time, Despite having been a serious cyclist for 40+ years, I have never ridden commando style.
Over recent years I have been mostly wearing a pair of coolmax briefs under the lycra shorts which were comfortable enough, and only provided a bit of mild chafing on longer/sweatier rides which I felt was acceptable.
Anyway, following a couple of recent threads on here debating the subject I decided to take the bull by the horns as it were and give it a go, and what a revelation.
I've now done several rides commando, including some longer and sweatier ones, and it is so much more comfortable and cooler than before, and so far I have had zero chafing. I'm converted and shall worship at the alter of the commando gods for the rest of my cycling life. The only downside I can see is that I may need to wash my shorts a bit more regularly now
.
To anybody else swithering about this, my advice would be to do the wee man a favour and give it a go.
