That looks just like me...almost 8000 miles completed on the fixie mainly via commuting, this is my second stretch I also did it in the mid 90's.I've adjusted to the fixie quite well, rode the Audax 2006 for the first time in over a year today.(testrun, not commute)Aim to complete over 200 commutes on the fixie by the end of this year...Will have to count them up as it's more than that.

I've actually done 190 (from 2012) + 139 (from 2011) 329 consecutive fixie commutes with 13 to go this year and the first time since 2009 I will do over 200 cycle commutes in a year.

Still wrong. 'Fixed gear' is an Americanism. In the UK it's 'fixed wheel', or just 'fixed'.

I fixed my bike at the weekend... now the derailleur works again.

And just to add definitely no mudguards, and handlebars the same width as the saddle.
BTW Ian, expected to see you in the Nat 25 last year and Nat 50 this year although the latter was a debacle.
I'm afraid I only play at the short-distance stuff, though I must get my act together if I want to do well in next year's 24 - but all this is drifting somewhat off-topic.
