Ride It Like You Stole It!
Location

We all do it.

I'd been sat at lights, next to another guy who was riding SS, I was Fixed. I pedalled away, slight downhill, but kept my pace steady (Manchester Road near Parrs Wood Cinema for locals). I carry on heading to Cheadle, and the lad comes past me. Fine I think. Road then starts to climb over the M60, and it's obvious the guy's riding flat out (shuffling on the seat, bobbing, looking very uncomfortable). I think - I'll go in front, and take us over the hill, so I pull past him and shout 'I'll take the front for a bit'. He then just laughed in a 'argh I'm dead' tone. We both have a little chat at the next lights, especially as I had a new set of bars strapped to my panniers.

It's good fun !

Yep done it myself. Last month I saw a roadie pedaling way to quick up a slight incline, so I threw the gauntlet down

I pursued a chap in a suit on what looked like a hybrid/town bike as he went up the Wellsway in Bath. I was struggling to close on him at 14.5mph (it is a long old drag and hard going), I finally get alongside and as I pass I notice he has an electric bike!!! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

'why am i being so competitive, he's quicker than you, he's not even trying you fool' - undeterred i keep my cadence as best i can...reach a pedestrian crossing puffing a little and look over my shoulder - he's right there, no sign of effort and completely disinterested in my efforts.

we parted ways at the next junction and i was already feeling slightly silly.
Don't feel so bad about it, he was probably hanging on to your seatstays while you wren't looking.

You should be able to outrun an electric bike no problem !

Hahaha my average up the Wellsway is about 12-13mph... I had to put it in to get past the smug suit with the power assist!
Worst part was having past him I had to keep going so as not to look a tool, my legs nearly fell off at the top!

Not me I'm afraid as I never cycle in jeans, mainly because I don't own a pair. But recently I've been riding on a Bacchetta Giro ATT 26.

Niiice. If I get passed by a massive bloke riding a 'bent i'll shout hello.

Would love to know how long it takes you to do the full length of the recently tarmac'd guided bus track. Swavesey station to science park station. I love a challenge !

Hum well I've averaged 26.5mph over a flat TT course on my Stealth Pro, so with the guided bus way being about 8.5 miles I'd say 19-20min. With the Giro I've not gone truly flat out yet, but I've done a flat 20 miles with a 24mph average, which is 21-22min.

PS. I'm not that big, only 5' 6 1/2" (that half in IS important ), I have a lot of muscle & very little fat, so please use the phrase 'sculpted'
