With the Giro I've not gone truly flat out yet, but I've done a flat 20 miles with a 24mph average, which is 21-22min.

Aaaaah, well erm that is some challenge - I'll start with the lower one first! I have not seen anyone going that fast on the commute, or at the weekend come to think if it.

Its my first season on 23mm tyres and I am able to average 20mph so far. Gonna have to get some more interval training in.

I was averaging 15mph only a few years back and have mostly improved simply by SCR and one hour blasts to work. Its somehow way more motivating than the gym.

I especially love commuter racing when I'm wearing a floaty skirt with my hair flying, turns out some chaps in lycra aren't that impressed by being overtaken by a curvy girl in civvies!

I tried that but my floaty skirt kept getting stuck in my chain .

Oh it has to be short (with leggings underneath!) :-)

P.S. When I say "curvy" I mean big t*ts and a shapely bottom - not a Beth Ditto style lump that should be banned from short skirts! :-)

I'd ask for evidence but then I'd be shoo'd off the forum, so I won't

I do chase down RLJers when I can, though.

I do that too. Last week I overtook the same bloke 4 times on my commute. He kept passing me at red lights and I would just reel him back in, over take and then stop at the lights, only for it all to start again!

I ride as fast as I do, but don't race. I am, however, pleased when I overtake someone I perceive to be a fast/strong rider.

I do chase down RLJers when I can, though.

I dont deliberately chase anyone but I find passing RLJs more satisfying than anyone else

As for SCR I'm not bothered, if someone is slower than me and theres a nice run ahead I'll pass. Otherwise if I'm close to where I need to turn I'll happily sit behind someone fore a few hundred yards*. Likewise that old chap on the iron-monger special, the chav lad on some random full suspension or the full works roadie can wizz by if they like, I'm happy at my pace

*By behind I dont mean a foot from their back wheel either!

today i learned that this sort of behaviour is in all of us

on my way in to work this afternoon a lad in his baggy tracksuit exits a side road 50 meters or so in front of me - he's got plenty of time and give him credit he did stop to check - as he gets going he looks over his shoulder at me and then gets up out of his saddle (he's riding a standard cambridge MTB) and starts giving it some proper effort - i'm already smiling and remembering my efforts to keep a lad behind me last week, so i carry on at the same pace and cruise past him shortly after with a cheery 'hello' :hello:

come up to a set of red lights and looking over my shoulder i see him cross the road bump up the kerb and pop in to the Co-Op...i'm sure he didn't intend to have a bit of a race on his way to the shops when he left the house

for some reason i tend to pass rljs much closer than rlw* cyclists

*red light waiting

I've found myself very tempted to do that, but don't because I'd be as bad as the close overtake drivers trying to teach us a lesson.

Years ago I did a return close pass on another cyclist who cut me up, and although it was satisfying, I felt like a toerag afterwards.
