I'd rather concrete slabs but it's raised and the walling and steps will get annoying.

Plus the boss wants decking so what I want is immaterial!!
I might be prejudiced because I just don't like the stuff, but I get the feeling decking might be tomorrow's stone cladding. Fashionable now, but soon the estate agents will be advising people to get rid of it if they want a sale.

I do agree but I also don't do anything in the house for selling when I want to live in it. I'll do what suits us to live and as you say, if it's a problem I'll get shot when we sell.

I'd never heard of wood composite decking before now. I just rummaged around on Google and I'm intrigued. The major reservation that I would have is that its aging characteristics must be largely unknown. Does anybody know more about it?

Wood for about 30m2 will be around 700 800 with a 1000 screws..yes a 1000
4.8m x150x32mm treated pine is around 12 quid a board you want about 44 ..from a proper builders merchant or timber yard..not wicks b&q tat
You can get a hardwood but ive not met a customer who will pay for it around here.
the new composite stuff looks great but not priced any yet but id think its competitive

the new cafe at ferry meadows has extensive composite black decking its vey smart.it wont need painting as its not wood

Careful with that axle Eugene
We have plastic composite decking around the static caravan. Rot free, and not slippery when it rains. Like any decking, it needs to be pressure washed clean once a year, but there is no requirement to re-treat with any coating. Sunlight makes it fade a little. (Apparently. Our 'van is in Wales so sunlight is of little concern......)
