While it's true that the ads one sees reflect one's browsing history somehow  I agree we should not see porn ads on here.
I will make the forum's owner aware.
Sorry about that.

A browser that's now another layer on top of Chromium, founded by an opponent of marriage equality, with early investors included Peter Thiel, that previously introduced its own crypto coins, is now into LLMs... what could possibly go wrong?

I initially chose Brave because it doesn't require Snaps. I carried on using it because it was fast and stable.

If we're going to boycott products because of their company's history then we should start with IBM. Their punch card system was used to coordinate the Holocaust.

Errrr, you do realise that the ads that you see are a reflection of your viewing history, no? 😉
This is not necessarily true, especially if using a good modern browser with defences against some tracwing methods.

And what horrors have they done in the last ten years?

But I know people who still won't buy Hugo Boss. It's a choice. I don't criticise them for saying why. It's better than leaving people in the dark about the drawbacks.

Good morning,

Most advertising providers allow site owners to opt out of adult adverts and I have not seen any adult adverts here before,

I get Rachel Riley and Charlotte Church versions of the advert mentioned and I suspect that the advert providers would class these as adult content if they realised that they were providing them.

The trouble may be that they are not explicit enough for the advert provider to have noticed, so it may be worth contacting the advert providers directly if you disapprove.

Can the mods provide a link?

Clearly the advert provider may take the view that these are not adult adverts, they’re not much worse than the Temu ones, in which case the site owner is pretty much out of options.

Whilst I can see that these adverts don’t necessarily fit well with site I don’t see them as misogynist merely “Lad’s Mag”.

Add this to the cycling after a few pints thread which brought out some quite surprising shows of intolerance and virtue signalling should we worry about this place becoming a den of old fogeys?

Recently I worked with a young lady who has two degrees, runs a blog about strong women and posts pictures of herself in a swimsuit on Instagram.

Bye

Ian

Their recent behaviour is irrelevant if they show no genuine contrition for past misdeeds.

Take VW. Requested slave labour during the war, and was responsible for the death of many of them, particularly babies born to slave labourers. They then lied about it and only came clean in the late 90's when the weight of evidence became overwhelming and, rather conveniently, not many survivors were left to demand compensation.

Many of the board members from the 90s responsible for perpetuating the lie and attempting to deny compensation are still around today, and dieselgate shows their continuing contempt for human life in the name of profit.

If they've not said sorry like they mean it, made reparations to survivors without being strong-armed into it, and upped their game moving forward, then morally and culturally the organisation is as bad as it ever was. In IBMs case their behaviour is opaque, not admitting a thing but not outright denying it either, doubtless a carefully considered balancing act designed to protect their reputation and limit the chances of compo for descendents of the victims. Its a deliberate merry dance, IMHO of course.
