Whilst I can see that these adverts don’t necessarily fit well with site I don’t see them as misogynist merely “Lad’s Mag”.

To explain where I'm coming from, from my perspective, a constant deluge of "lads mag" content is in itself misogynistic, normalising the harassment and objectification of women. I'm not saying it's extreme porn or anything like that.

While it's true that the ads one sees reflect one's browsing history somehow  I agree we should not see porn ads on here.
I will make the forum's owner aware.
Sorry about that.

It used to be very easy to pay the annual sum to help the site and avoid the ads; I got a reminder each year and the payment via PayPal was simple To do. My last payment to the site involved much more hassle as there was no notification that the payment was due, and being hopeless with computers and using PayPal it took me ages to do.
Any chance the old system could be re started?

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
For a while I was shown ads for industrial shelving and storage products. I used to make a point of clicking on these ads to encourage more of them as they were quite wholesome. But they seem to have dried up now.

ISTR that I paid a small sum for ad-free-ness but that was years ago so it's probably run out now. Maybe Shaun should run a recruitment campaign. I'm sure plenty of us would sign up.

As posted above...

Go to profile then "Account Upgrades"
It is still there, but we are not getting reminders. This thread did remind me though so I just took a look at my status. I need to pay my £9 renewal fee by 17th November.

Ads are certainly random.

I simply refuse to click the bait. Also, a certain UK based site telegraphs its repeated misinformation . I never click but in that case it is related to my technology interests.

I had assumed the sex come-on ads were on my end in the US, and I do use Firefox, so somehow the ads are being generated - perhaps by this site owner for income.

My concern isn't the exact content, more just the normalising of misogyny.

Yes, I agree, but I find it amazing, disturbing, odd, strange that whenever there is an awards banquet or opening night of a film and the like, so many well known women parade their bodies in quite nude attire - or lack of it. Is it just we men who think women should cover up but not women? After all, the women in the ads in discussion seem quite willing to show of their bodies for money.

This is definitely not the case, I'm quote certain Angela Rippon, one of those used, did no such thing, and all are various celebs being used without any consent from themselves, I'm sure.

Am I the only one getting these adverts?
