Could it be the egg mayonnaise?

Almost certainly. How that repulsive substance can be termed a foodstuff is beyond me (and anyone with a sense of taste...or indeed sense)

Indeed, it stinks of bad farts. Rather ironically, after I've had a proper full Irish and a full day in the saddle, followed by 6 pints of real ale, my farts smell like Gavroche's egg mayonnaise sandwiches.

Funny you should mention it but I was also going like a train on last night's hooligan ride; I put it down to two factors:

1 - A decent ride last Saturday followed by a short but very hard hill climbing "leg loosener" on Sunday, not long enough to tire me out.

2 - A fatty buffet lunch (with egg sandwiches) on Tuesday with an overseas visitor, which I had fully digested by 6.30 when we started riding.

Eggs are the food of the gods; I love eggs cooked in any way. Even a 24 hour bout of salmonella poisoning on my last Africa trip hasn't put me off eggs.

I went for a short ride , 18 miles, today after eating an egg mayonnaise sandwich and felt great. I had plenty of power and could go up hills on a bigger gear than I usually do. I even overtook a tractor going along, so I am wondering if egg mayo is good for cycling? What is your favourite food before a ride, and I don't mean a morning ride after breakfast but an afternoon ride?

May be the wind from behind.

Thought this was going to be about farting whilst riding along...
