Lol, says he's 6ft and the bike is suitable for someone 5'6 to 5'11. He also knows it's a popular commuting bike, strange he'd know that if he's coming from and going back to MTB. Or maybe he knows it cos he's taken quite a few of them!

I'd leave it.

I've only ever bought one new bike. If a 2013 bike was £500 in the shops then I'd be looking to pay £220 for it. I've bought plenty of mint, as new, less than a year old bikes for 50% lass than their original retail value. The price looks right to me.

Not wanting to meet you at his home or work, doesn't.

He says he's owned it less than 3 months then less than 5 months. 5'6" to 5'11" is quite a size height range which would cover frame sizes S, M and L maybe even XL as well.

I wonder if he would be happy supplying the name of where or whom he bought it from and or the frame number?

Definitely dodgy. Avoid.

Here is the ad.
When I rang him, he asked which bike I am after. So he has several bikes advertised. The story that he is going to buy a mountain bike is not true. I simply didn't like the way he talked.

No - he's going to buy a moped. It says so in his other listing for the lower spec Sirrus he also owns and is selling:

http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/specialized-bike-sirrus-rrp-300/1062154772

"For sale is my specilized Sirrus. I have been using it to get to and from studies but the journey is proving to much of a workout for me and i have decided to get a new moped the bike has been unused for last month or so but took for a test run today and all is running smoothly. Feel free to call or text with amy queries or if wanting to arrange a meet."

@midliferider have you reported it to the police as suspect?

Incidentally, it's odd that he says the commute to his studies is too hard because only 9 months ago he bought a Pinarello to commute on:

"This bike hasnt been used as i hope it'd be. It was mostly used for commuting and around my studies. ThE condition is still like NEW.
Dont waste my time with stupid offers as I am not desperate for a sale, this bike has only me as the owner and was bought 9months ago."

Why does he have two Sirruses? Oh yeah cos they get nicked, like mine did :cursing:

Seems to buy and sell a lot of bikes for a student (or should be steals?)

I responded to another ad on Gumtree and bought it over the weekend. The difference is so obvious. He was so open about whole thing. The sale included even original receipt, instruction booklet etc. It look as it is a failed project of cycling to work. I felt so sorry for him. I felt like sitting with him and encouraging him to not give up and continue the cycling.
This morning I commuted to work in that bike and just came home. Very pleased with it.
