Council obstructing Sustrans routes.

Reminds me of a five bar gate across the Coast to Coast path between Consett and Parkhead Station in County Durham.

The stretch of path is straight and well-made, and the area is barren and exposed - there's nothing up there except a few sheep.

I wouldn't say the gate is exactly dangerous, but it is certainly unexpected, and it would be easy to clatter into it in the dark.

I suspect that the gate is there for times of high tides and strong winds, such as yesterday, when the waves are very likely to hit the path with some force.
