Is their a small piece of plastic film on the front mech that is used to indicate the distance from the top of the chain wheel to the bottom of the mech. These can sometimes make a clicking sound.

What about your saddle, replaced mine the other day it didn't start till 2nd day and got worse so i stopped tightened up bit more, click free now, or try a different one.

Evening all,

After chasing a clicking noise for months that has literally driven me insane, I have now exhausted all options and the book now says cracked frame.

My frame is a trek 1000 running a campagnolo mirage setup & hollow bottom bracket. I cannot find another 1000 frame anywhere!

My question is, does anyone know what frames my setup can also be used on?

I had clicking noise turned out to be a loose spoke in the front wheel.

My last two annoying clicks were one of the saddle rails being a tiny bit loose and a spoke nipple twisting slightly

My Defy 2 made a noise like a pepper mill from the BB. It was an internet buy from Paul's Bikes and they didn't bother responding to emails. So it was down to me or a LBS. I took it out, greased it up, put it back in again a few times which sorted it for a hundred miles or so. Got new BB cups after a year and still not sorted.

About six months ago, I noticed that a local chap started up a bike workshop at the end of my road and I took it in to him. He faced up the BB shell for me and it was sorted out nicely.

And now my Defy is making an 'orrible creaky noise again.. may be from the saddle maybe BB related.. have regreased seatpost, will dismantle & reassemble the BB over the weekend. Bah !
