Firstly, I apologise for lack of activity of late. New job takes up my time, seperation and house moving etc. Still have been cycling though.

WELL....for all of you interested...I DID COMPLETE THE 50 MILE RIDE with mum (so proud of her too, her furthest before now was 25 miles).....in two stages......We had a brilliant run, completing 44 miles when the obvious thing to happen....did....I got a puncture (we have been getting WAY too many recently).....convinced I was going to finish what I started - Dad came and picked me up with the bike (mum carried on) and took me to Halfords (not far from where we were) They were quiet so it was fixed and I then did the last 6 miles around the lanes to get home.

So glad I had the determination to carry on, allbeit back home an hour later than expected. But I feel so freaking good right now! Will post stats shortly.

Well done you, I enjoy reading personal achievements, I understand how much satisfaction and pride you feel. A Woohoo! for your mum too.

Me and my John for a couple of years did get a bit fixated on mileage but my goal now is to get my average speed over 40 miles+ past 13 mph, but it's hard. Not brilliant on climbs.

Awesome effort. Well done to you and your Mum.
Good on your Dad for helping you out. Puncture repairing is a key skill in cycling. I hate doing it but I can and do (I do try to get Hubster to do the deed when he's about though)

Good stuff. Get practising those puncture repair skills and they'll barely even slow you down
