If they're on a bike then cyclist is entirely right. Let's not be elitist and snobby.

I don't like the term POB-they might have been riding stupidly and unwisely but I prefer not to alienate with terms like that.
All right then, how about this line?
I'd never dream of using "POB" to describe someone just because of their appearance, or because they're riding a cheap supermarket bike, or wearing unsuitable clothing, or doggedly staying on the "infrastructure" however poorly-designed, or because they're excessively slow or have poor riding technique. Of course such a person is still a "cyclist"! And good luck to them: we need more cyclists like this just as much as we need experienced old-timers.
No: I think the term "POB", however snobbish it sounds, should be applied
only to those who do cyclists a disservice by their deliberate flouting of the law and other anti-social or dangerous behaviour, who attract unwelcome hostility towards cyclists as a whole, from the press and other members of the public. I think I'm justified in wanting to distance myself from such persons.
The idiot whose behaviour at Vauxhall Bridge Road we have been discussing, is a prime example of this.
Fair enough?
