I think McCullum did something extraordinary when he took over, he removed the fear of failure. England were transformed and won matches they would never have done in the past. It was a period of rewriting the record books. Unfortunately, he went too far and also removed responsibility which has come back to bite them in the ashes. As with most things, a balance is needed. The off field issues should not happen and the leadership team are all responsible for the lack of professionalism. Injuries to the 5 frontline bowlers didn’t help but how much are these down to preparation?

Root is our best ever batsman. Stokes is up there with Botham. Brook is the most naturally talented player since KP but is currently being allowed to blow it. Let’s see if Bethell lives up to the hype. The bowlers are a problem. We don’t have a world class spinner, the seamers are ok but nobody is up with Anderson and Broad yet.

With leadership comes responsibility the question is just who is going to grow a pair. Own up and fall on the sward?

No idea if it's in his plans but I'd like to see Broad become part of the setup. Understands England and Test Cricket inside out, he is clearly intelligent and from his punditry a very good analytical mind. He also came up through the hard way, earned his stripes playing sub county cricket in Australia so knows how to plan and prepare as a young cricketer. He would have a huge amount to pass on to this team.

a 14 year old* that has already played IPL cricket, hitting his first ball in IPL cricket for 6 and scoring the 2nd fastest IPL hundred ever!

there is also some dispute over his DoB, he might actually be 16

From the pics online, he's a big lad for 14 (and not just a string bean).

If they hadn’t defended that handful of rungs that Nepal needed from their final over, England might be packing their bags right now.

Below par doesn’t do justice to how poorly they have performed in the tournament thus far.
Questionable tactics too today.
