Note... anyone who dismisses a film because it's subtitled is a xenophobe (or possibly dyslexic).

And misses out on a lot of great films.

Kevin Costner was always a turn off for me, then I saw a film called Mr Brooks. A brilliant movie and he is excellent in it.

I really rate Costner, he's made some terrific films: Field of Dreams, Open Range, Draft Day, Untouchables, etc etc...I'm one of the few people that think Waterworld is a good film though so what do I know.

Here's a real reason why I'll be avoiding films...

Just sat in my local multiplex where they're charging £10.29 per standard seat to see Eddie the Eagle.
"It's a new film" was the reason given when asked why it was so much.

It could well be the last "new film" we see and it might explain why there are just 8 people in here. Robbing swine. :cursing:

I've put movies on the 'things I don't give a fcuk about' list. The number of times I've been told I 'have' to watch X, Y and Z movie and lost another 2 hours of my life I can't remember. Most movies are pretty asinine IMO, something to do when all else fails.
As for going to the popcorn drenched sticky carpeted rubbish strewn picture house, you can keep it.

Untouchables is a great film despite Costner being in it. ;)

Quite a few film avoidance criteria for me, but the main ones are Westerns or anything with John Wayne. I also avoid anything with Woody Allen like the plague.

John Wayne always seems to play "John Wayne", not different characters.

Other actors in this mould would include:

Al Pacino playing... Al Pacino.
Gene Hackman playing... er... Gene Hackman
Morgan Freeman...
Hugh Grant...
etc...

And as for Steven Seagal, Jason Statham etc. don't get me started!

Graham.

£13.30 hereabouts.

There are several very good reasons why I seldom go to the cinema.

The smell of popcorn. I HATE POPCORN.
Noisy wrappers for sweets, crisps etc. Why???
People who forget, can't be bothered to switch off, or even want to use their mobile phones.
People talking during the film.
People who arrive late and disturb everyone else.
