This thing will just cause more division between motorists and cyclists. We'll get stick from joe bloggs WVM if we don't use the segregated lanes.

I actually rode past Boris on embankment once. He was a bit all over the shop tbh. I wouldn't have had a chance if it was in a segregated lane and would have been stuck behind him all the way from Temple to Big Ben.
This is my worry with these segregated systems; some cyclists travel phenomenally slow. What there should be are three lanes (instead of the planned two), with the one in the middle being an overtake lane.

I have on Priory Lane where there is a badly designed cycle path on the pavement, adjacent to the road. I choose not to use the pavement/cycle lane because it is dangerous imho and inconvenient for me to have to cross the road full of traffic to get onto it, then it ends half way along the road, instead of running the full length of the road. I hope you're right and the nice motorists don't take it badly but I fear this will often end in verbals and punishment passes.
There are plenty of current segregated paths dotted around London. Has anyone had any stick for not using these?
