My SKS's are not only looking worse for wear but are in need of being replaced due to them falling apart.

So Im looking at either geting a new set of SKS (For my Ribble) or maybe a set of Crud Road guards, The question is what would YOU go for and why ?

I would (and have) go for SKS, 'cos I know they are good. Don't know much about Cruds.

Could be I have no idea what I'm talking about. I meant full guards!

I've got both and would recommend the race guards because of the extra coverage both front and rear. I had some initial problems with rubbing from the race guards, this was soon fixed following review of the tips section on the crud website.

They would however be pretty tight on anything wider that a 23!

I assume you're talking about SKS Race Blades, if so the Crud road are much better guards giving almost full mudguard protection. If you're talking SKS Chromoplastic/Bluemels then they trump the Crud Road.

Oh one thing I've done to make my Crud Road much better is get some thin translucent plastic & make an extension that runs all the way down the seat tube & a little bit down the drive side chain stay to help keep the front mech clean.

Get the Race Blades, they're brilliant. They have a nice flexible part at the back which allows for hits and scrapes without them getting ruined.

I have the raceblades but not to convinced with how much protection they offer tbh, might go for the crud ones next time as they look like they give more coverage.
SKS on the hybrid though are great, bike looks clean in all but the worst weather.

I have the raceblades and have been very pleased with them, after some tinkering to stop them, especially the front one, from rubbing. Yes, they're a bit tight with 25mm tyres but not unusably so.

Cruds are very good, better than the race blades, although if I had room on my fixed wheel I'd have used proper full SKS mudguards, as those trump the cruds.

I had SKS race blades but didn't find they worked very well as full mudguards - in wet weather I still ended up getting sprayed on the face and back. They were also tricky to fit on my front forks (even with the aero adapters) and rattled around/slipped quite a lot so they they ended up rubbing on the wheel. My LBS replaced them with the Crud road guards (on 28C tyres) which I love - full coverage, never budge, never rub. Great things.. and barely visible either!

It all depends on what the bike is used for.

The Crud guards are lighter but the SKS cromo guards (with the flaps at the bottom) are better at keeping water off you and the the bike.

If a few extra grams isn't an issue then go for the SKS guards and make sure they have that flap at the bottom.
