Agree to a point. The crumble needs to have been cooked on a layer of fruit to get the moist, chewy, crumbliness. Otherwise it would be too dry.

I used to love the rhubarb crumble at school, so one day my dad made me one at home.

That was when I realised why it's called crumble. I didn't like ones that were dry and crumbly, I liked the sticky gooey mess they served up at school.

Picked these up on my morning ride so just added some home grown rhubarb and now it's in the oven cooking.

Savoury crumble on the list for me this week...chicken, leek and ham.

Wonder if anyone's ever doubled up in one meal: savoury for main, sweet for pudding... 🤔

It's been done with roly-polies, beef mince at one end and jam at the other, but with crumbles, I think you'd have to put a divider in the middle.

It certainly does, only trouble is that it needs eating quickly otherwise the crumble topping might go soggy .
