And I had a thing for Christina Applegate in 'Married with Children' when I was growing up. And googling her name reveals that I still have a thing for her. No posts for the next fifteen minutes...........

I miss John Candy too!

I'd completely forgotten about "Stripes" good shout! ;)

 - Couldn't even start to count how many times I watched that in my teens.

+1. He was great. In fact he was the funny guy to straight guy Steve Martin in P,T & A, although SM was pretty funny too.

I also like Falling Down as a black comedy polemic. Has me in stitches, especially when MD's character right at the start of the film lets off the RPG by mistake at the road works with the help of a little kid on his bike. Then there's the burger joint scene - classic, surely everyone has fantasized about doing something like that in the face of such poor customer service, priceless .

Happy Gilmore, Dogma

+1

Quite liked "Waterboy" with Henry "the Fonz" Winkler.

Chasing Amy was a good film too, before Dogma in the Kevin Smith film series.

What about "Kingpin" with Woody Harrelson

or Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo

Sons of the Desert - Laurel and Hardy. The original and best comedians, ever.

Absolutely love Laurel and Hardy  - when I was a kid I'd watch them over and over again whenever they were on TV. Pre VCR of course.

+1. They used to be on BBC2 when I got home from school. As soon as video VHS came in I started taping them. Then when the government deregulated the channels L&H were hoovered up by the subscription channels. But I still have my videos I recorded all those years ago and a VCR that still functions.

Plus a couple of years ago a good neighbour whose husband died about 4 year ago from cancer gave me her late husband's complete Laurel and Hardy collection as she said that he always wanted me to have them as he new I was a true fan. Shall always covet them. If ever I feel really, really low, wrist slitting time, I get Laurel and Hardy on.

I wouldn't worry about it - just some mid 1990's comedy films, Woody Harrelson was the dumb(but likeable) barman in Cheers.

I think I watched them at the weekends when I was younger. ;)

It's nice your friend gave you her husbands videos - it's also a good reminder of him. He'd appreciate them being watched by a fellow fan.

True, Saturday mornings was Laurel and Hardy time on BBC2.

One of my favourite films is Steel Yard Blues, with Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland.
