Current theme of knobheads in cars

That , I would find hard to believe, after more than 50 yrs in the saddle,
One, you have to get the police to actually take notice of what you provide as evidence, two the Knobhead is probably so conceited as to take no notice of whatever action would have been taken against them.
I have many times have taken my point of umbrage to the driver once they get stopped in traffic, and rarely have had a pleasant exchange of views

Well if you read my previous post on this about action taken there's your answer, the police do take notice. *
Whether it alters drivers behaviour I have no idea but after getting a hefty fine and points they'd have to be particularly stupid not to. No doubt some might be but then repeat offences and they get banned.

As for confronting drivers whilst very tempting it's not the best idea. That road leads to the Cycling Mikey school of irate drivers. If so inclined, record incident, report and let police deal with it.

Yeah, on my road, which has a series of chicanes with parking, rather than wait for traffic it's routine for people to just drive on the pavement to make the road two way when there isn't space. Drives me nuts - they could just wait, but no.

Film it and report it, and they can enjoy their points and fine for the privilege. No need for bike camera just sit on garden wall with phone filming.

They should have had priority, not right of way. Both sets of cars had a right of way.
I think it's a convention rather than a rule, I couldn't find it in the highway code.

Yes. Most are just an email saying Positive Action Taken. I haven't chased these up but it'll be either a warning letter or driving awareness course etc.
However, if the driver gets taken to court then I get a letter saying case whether resolved or not. In all but one case the driver has pleaded guilty and so I am informed of what happened. Most cases 3,4,5 etc points on licence and fines ranging from £300 to £800 plus victim surcharge. Note I don't get said surcharge, that is basically in effect another fine which is levied onto driver.
If a driver goes to court and pleads not guilty then another court date is arranged and this time I am summoned as a witness. This is happening for an incident I reported earlier this year and in Sept I'll be attending court and giving evidence.

I've sent in 60 clips of close passes etc and all bar 2 had action taken against driver by the police. In the 2 incidents they didn't, 1 was because the driver was from the channel Islands and police here don't have juristication there and the other was deemed NFA as pass was deemed not bad enough.
10 were taken to court and had fines and points on licence.

That's all well and good, but isn't that creating a 2 tier system, not everyone has a the ability ,or even want to record their daily wanderings ,should they come to a disagreement.

Perhaps,the Police could take the novel approach of actually physically patroling the streets, over sitting in a control room issuing fixed penalty tickets for misdemeanours recorded and posted to them..
It's not for me to record these actions, now if I was involved in such altercations, and reported to the police, time of day and any relevant registration, they very likely will not take any action over it because there is no video of the incident, and yet I report an incident that has happened
I as yet not had cause to do this.
But for it to be only actioned because there is physical evidence of the incident seems to me blatantly wrong.

Possibly because without evidence the police might find it hard to make a case? Otherwise we could all just make up spurious allegations against anyone. I'm not suggesting for a moment you would but if it was just a case of your word against another's I'm not sure how effective that is.

I'm sure others who may have been in the police or CPS might know better.

However you say you have had cause to take umbrage at drivers when stopped yet also say you've had no cause to do so. Seems a bit of a contradiction?

Under normal circumstances then if there is a line of parked cars on your side then cars coming from the other direction have priority

but you start to proceed along the line then you should have priority until you have got past them

which has always seemed to be the system anywhere I have been

except when people decide they have the right to do what they want anyway

in this thing today - at some point someone has driven into a position which any reasonable person could easily see would lead to a probelm

but it only needs one

main thing is that no-one was injured
and if you look at it in the right way - it is quite funny

Even if the Police tripled the number of Officers on the streets - and I am sure everyone would be happy with the tax increases to support this

they would still not have enough to be in the right place and time for every traffic infringement

and even if one of then arrived 10 seconds after the event
they still only have the word of one person against the other unless the physical evidence shows different - which is often not the case unless there was an actual collision and even then if the offending vehicle leave the scene then it will be difficult to prove who was driving

Have to admit I am very pleasantly surprised by this, I really thought you were going to say it was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of responses. Really encouraging to see that your reports are acted upon. I have considered getting a camera myself on many occasions but if I am being honest I have always felt (seemingly incorrectly) that it would be a fruitless exercise. I am going to have to give it some serious consideration.

FTAOD, as OP:

There are knobheads using all forms of transport.

Knobheads in cars are the worst purely because they cause the most danger.

All other knobheads are also knobheads, and the world would be better with fewer knobheads.

I have no reliable statistics, but as personally a pedestrian, cyclist and motorist, the only knobheads that routinely cause me a problem are knobheads in cars.

This is definitively my final word on knobheadery.
