cool idea! I could hold it at an angle & cut a X of sorts maybe. because it's way in the corner & I don't want to cut the lattice or the 2x4 holding up the lattice. intriguing, did not know they made a wood cutting disk for angle grinders

Worked on a laurel bush that got a bit carried away. Did think I'd killed it. But it's recovered now.
My grinder is a fake Makita runs off real Makita 18v battery.

got it done, well 2 of them anyway. wood chisel & hammer barely made a dent. reciprocating saw did the trick. had to be mindful of the saw blade tip. is it weird that I felt some remorse? I don't like killing things

Good work.

Viewed from a definition of weird being "counter / different to the norm", you probably are weird in feeling this way as many people seem to give zero thought to killing things (as I was reminded recently as I witnessed in horror an otherwise placid and friendly acquantance casually remove and crush a small spider from his pint glass  ).

IMO it's absolutely right that you feel this way. Sometimes stuff needs killing when a situation boils down to a conflict between its agenda and one's own; but this should always be done with appropriate consideration and respect.

You can drill a hole in the stump and pour a bit of weed killer into the hole for good measure. This will slowly seep in to the roots over time.
