Wrap the tape around the pump.

Don't bother with a travel pillow. Use a stuffa sack with your clothes in it.
Why two cups? One will do.
The tape does come in handy - I've repaired a tent pole, the arm of a pair of cycling specs and improvised a tyre boot with the stuff over the years.
Multi tool,
tyre levers.

All those + a 5 m length of paracord, small radio/mp3, camera, paperback, midgie repellent, sunglasses, notepad and pen, "swiss army" knife, several small plastic bags, some thin rubber gloves (delete as applicable to you).

Have a great time.

small plastic shovel and toilet paper for emergencies...... plastic bin bag in case your panniers aren't waterproof? (also doubles as a natty rain jacket too!)

....
loo roll, vaseline to prevent chaffing, sudofen if you get a chaffing issue, dont forget a lighter, head torch is better than a normal torch, small piece of washing line and some pegs (or an elastic travel washing line) small pack of wet wipes.

small tube of chain lube, spoke key, couple of spare spokes..as stated rubble sacks for your panniers. Even If they are waterproof you can leave the pannier outside on the bike in the wet but remove the dry rubble sack and rummage through it in the tent.

As stated plastic bags, if you are going to France dont expect to see any at the checkout. Travel sink plug for camp sites that dont have plugs.

Sun tan lotion

Do you have a liner for your sleeping bag? - silk ones cheap on ebay.

A bar of soap should be sufficient, will you really need showergel and deodorant as well?Buy a small tube of toothpaste for the tour, lighter and less bulky than the normal size.

A map and hand bearing compass. Better get a kettle if you are taking a stove ;)
What to take with you can be determined by the area you intend touring in, for example if touring in more densely populated countries I would not carry spare parts or medication that I might need as these items can be purchased en route if required.

I take a little plastic compass, very handy.

Someone mentioned checkouts in France not having plastic bags. In supermarkets, they're under the counter or on a hook by the till. You just have to say "Je voudrais acheter un sac" and one appears for 10 or 15p.

I use a block of solid shampoo from LUSH. it serves as shampoo, deodorant, body wash and washing powder.

A kettle is unnecessary. Just use one of the pans.

I like one kettle, one pan and lid with my Trangia. The lid is also a frying pan. I hate my cup of tea tasting of noodles! Each to their own on this debate me thinks.

Try washing the pan before making the tea.

I now take ear-plugs after a couple of nights where noises (birds, snoring neighbours, traffic etc.) kept me awake in spite of post-ride exhaustion. Some people take airline blindfolds in midsummer when the sun rises very early, but the light's not an issue for me.
