hello all sorry no capitals but this lappy refuses to print them, well i went into my local
cycle shop the weekend and got some slime for my wifes bike that has the car type
valves, he said they do not do slime for the racing small usual valves does anyone
know different and if so could you give me an ebay link to them, also can someone
give me an ebay item number for the little gas cyclinders that blow the tyres up for the racing
bike type valves so i know exactly what ones to order.
does not seem to much to offer to prevent and seal punctures these days would
have thought there were something that seals the puncture and blows the tube up
at the same time, i used to have these years ago for my motor bikes, so why not any
for cycles i wonder . . . . any help greatly appreciated . . .

You can buy tubes already containing slime for road bikes

hey thanks to you both and for the link i kinda heard about them but thought
do they really work, so many thanks i thought there has to be some way of
repairing punctures you used to see cyclists with the bike upside down side of the road,
mending a puncture, but have not seen this for about 30 years, so has to be some better way,
i mean so many racing bikes out today riding they dont seem to even carry a pump or
pack with spare tubes etc. so is it these self sealing tubes they all use,

No, a lot are pretend racers, waiting for the "team car" to come to them and sort things out (aka the very irritated missus in the car). Why anyone goes out without a spare, plastic levers and a mini pump (not a gas cylinder) makes me wonder if they are a bit daft. Putting anything but air in a tube (or tubular) is not going to do anything to improve the ride quality.

yes i see what you mean i meant the guys on cycle rides on racers around the streets never seem to
have anything with them,
so u suggest changing the tube is the best way when u get a puncture
i can see there is no advantage of using cylinders as you say.
the self sealing tubes seem a good idea though

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Just to play devils advocate i never found those slime tubes to be of any use at the pressures i use for road tyres of around 110 psi as by the time the slime managed to seal the tyre most of it had spurted out under pressure and the stuff gunks up the inner tube valve .
I would say you much better off using a puncture resistant tyre.
I always carry 2 inner tubes, patches, levers, multi tool and a mini pump + a c02 inflator.

When winter comes i will be switching to the rigid MTB for commuting and i will ditch the above pumps for a mini track pump that in the past i have used to pump road tyres up to full pressure in less than a minute ....
