Same, I keep my phone in my pocket and it seems to get the GPS signal happily. I've used MyTracks so far and the routes it maps are all accurate from my pocket. Just downloaded this and going to give it a go.

Didn't realise there was a sticky for this - our "other" group has the majority

How do you all manage to get the phone to view the sky and get the GPS working? Are you all using handlebar mounts or something? I always have mine in my rear pocket so can only get timings, it's a bit frustrating, especially as I thought it would work something out from other location systems.

Any suggestions?

The signal can travel through walls and such (sometimes I get it indoors) - will be perfectly fine in your pocket etc etc.

Some of us use our cycling GPSs though mounted on our bike bars/stems etc.

Just started using this. Trialled it walk down my road yesterday, and remembered about in the last few miles of my bike ride today so turned it on. I'd quite like to see all the calories burnt bit.

I think I'm going to use it to record all my cycling, and walking around...althought I might cheat and put it on in my jacket pocket when on the motorbike. ;)

A little bit worrying though, with it recording everything and sticking it on the internet. Stuck the privacy settings to only me...not that that would stop anyone. I suppose it could have some advantages. If someone gets their wing mirror booted off by a cyclist I can prove it wasn't me...or at least that I 'witnessed' it (hah - joke).

Not sure how accurate it will always be, as the gps on my phone isn't that strong. From what I have seen from my ride it seems accurate enough for me.

How do you get your climbing figures? I get speed calories distance and plotted route but can't figure out how to show elevation figures.

You can set your track to private, or for friends... sadly you cannot have a "team" option atm

It shows it on a map workout page. On the map on a little chart at the bottom. Does that help?

Think just private for all for now . Don't really know anyone who needs the information. Will be quite interesting when back home in winter and going on longer club rides. Assuming it doesn't just drain my phone's battery.

Depends on the phone model really, mine lasts a good 4 hours with the live tracking option - I only use my phone with live as garmin deals with day to day

If you do the "share by facebook" option, it posts a link on your profile which makes your track publicly viewable, this is handy to show people whilst having it still set to private - cant find a way of getting this link without which is a bit annoying.

Had only looked on my HTC rather than on the full site. I see you get a profile of your climbing. Is there a total ascent/descent figure anywhere? or am i just missing it . Do like the full website though.
