Most of the bike police are pretty damn good on their bikes - most of them are keen cyclists away from the job. And they spend a great deal of time busting bike thieves. And if you want to know who makes the bikes I will ask for you if you say please.yes.
alledgedly tasked with sorting out bike crime, although they have been known to do other police duties , as they should. some of em look decidedly wobbly on the bikes.
dunno what the bikes are but they look OK.
anybody know what the bikes are, unless that well known sunglasses maker has started doing bikes![]()

If it's where I think it is there have been a number of very serious pedestrian accidents on the new bus lane. In response they have erected barriers along the pavement. I suspect the reason that cycling is prohibited is that there is no room for a bus to pass as the lane is narrow, with two lanes of occasionally fast traffic to the right and no escape onto the pavement.
Whilst I don't think that it's the best use of police time, personally I think that the ban on cyclists is reasonable in this instance.
Careful now. Some motorists don't think its good use of Police time in policing motorists speeding, driving whilst use a mobile phone or without seatbelts, etc.

I can see an argument that it's reasonable in the circumstances, but there does seem to be something basically wrong with the outcome that cyclists are banned because of actions by bus drivers and pedestrians ... perhaps they should have not put the bus lane in at all and put a nice wide bike lane in instead.

There are videos on YouTube of them training. Most are very good cyclists.
Do you think there is a training course they go on like the motorcyclists and pursuit drivers ?
the one i saw apprehending somebody virtually jumped off the bike to make the arrest. Was great to watch.
Some people here will know some of the Bike Squad. Seven of them volunteered to escort the Martlets FNRttC from Sloane Square to Mitcham, where a couple stripped off their uniforms to reveal lycra underneath and continued to BrightonMost are very good cyclists.
