Just received my subscription renewal for Cycle Sport, £49.42 for the year. However by sheer coincidence I also received the March 2013 edition of the magazine where I can subscribe for a year for £30.95.

Now I'm sure someone will say "Ah but you'll get unbroken delivery by using the renewal letter" but in this age of the internet, I know exactly when my subscription runs out so I need not miss a copy. It just seems like IPC Media are intent on ripping off existing customers.

They all do it. New sky customers can get a good deal, where current customers cannot avail of the discounts. Situation normal, move along now.

We alternate a C+ subscription between Mrs Kes and myself; canceling every 12 months or so and the other one re-subscribes, taking advantage of whatever free gift/special offer is open.

It's the same with insurance and a whole lot of other services. We usually ring them up and tell them the price is too high and we're going to have to move, that always gets us a "manager's special" or some other reduction. They are relying on customers being complacent or too busy to check.
