I wore full winter gear, except a jacket as some places were solid ice when I left Edinburgh; it turned out to be a beautiful day, I wish I'd worn arm and leg warmers .

Aye, he was. When I was up with him, I would be breathing heavy by the top of a hill and he would still be chatting away. I also didn't see him using the largest cog on his cassette....
