Revisionist history. Everyone knows that the most popular glam rocker in the playgrounds of early 70s Britain was Gary Glitter.

I did see GG live in the 70's at the Rainbow, Finsbury Park. I must admit it was a great show.

I voted for Slade, they were the first band I saw live again at the Rainbow in 1972. My mate Colin, not from accounts, got the tickets, they cost a massive amount, £1.25 each.

and I think history has supported me

Wizzard were a bit of an oddball for me. That bl#*dy Christmas song didn't help.

They were, but they weren't 'mainstream'..more proper rock. (IMHO)

@gbb Faithhealer, Vambo were sublime in my opinion. Next I always found a disturbing track. About National Service I believe.

Cuddly Toys are still massive in Japan. They never took off in the UK, probably because they were originally called 'Raped'. Their manager Big Daddy (as in the wrestler) persuaded them to change their name but it still didn't get them airplay.
