As a 12 to 16 year old at that time, any disco you went to Mud, Sweet, The Rubettes, Smokie, the Glitter Band, definitely Showaddywaddy, Suzi Quatre, The Bay City Rollers etc were guaranteed plays.
Stuff like SAHB was not played (apart from perhaps Boston Tea Party) and i dont remember TRex being played much barring perhaps the "teenybopper' songs (seen as aimed at younger kids, we kinda scorned them as older lads. The irony is, barring those 'bopper' songs Marc Bolan turned out some beautiful music

3 songs at No1
12 songs in Top10 singles charts
18 in the Top 40
Appearances in Top of the Pops. Too many to count inc guest presenter.

For those of us who were not fans he was a constant source of bewilderment.

Saw Alex and the boys in 75 and then later Zal when he was in Nazareth. Many years later I not only saw Ted McKenna several times but was lucky enough to not only meet and talk with him and have a drink with the great man when he played with Gerry McAvoys 'Band Of Friends' (Maz is a massive Rory Gallagher fan so we already knew Gerry) TBH I think Ted was grateful to talk abut something other than Rory, Rory,Rory all the time

I have a mate who knew RG very well and his 'claim to fame' is he was a pall bearer at RG's funeral.
