@Drago in terms of bass players, they truly shone in the Prog period.

Glitter was good for what he was - or what he advertised himself to be (we know the rest!!)

but I always though he was rather aggressively "LOOK AT ME"
whereas T-rex and sweet and the like were more based on music and talent - then "look at me"

Slade were "look at me" but didn;t seem to take it so seriously or take themselves that seriously

Wizzard had the best Christmas song anyway!!!

my wife remembers a Top of the Pops where Saville was the presenter
and she remembers thinking it was a bit weird that Roy Wood was doing everything he could to keep all the kids near him and stop them going near Saville

and now we all know why

Revisionist history. Everyone knows that the most popular glam rocker in the playgrounds of early 70s Britain was Gary Glitter.

Never knowingly described as a musician.

The Sweet by a huge stretch for me.
Hearing the Sweet FA album for the first time back in the day totally blew me away (my dad bought it and played it all the time). It's a bone fide heavy metal classic that I still give a regular airing.

Never heard of it until you mentioned it here, I had it on this morning but as we've only got the basic Amazon music it had some Wizzard and Mud shuffled in with it, brilliant.

T Rex went down in my estimation after I found out Marc Bolan snubbed John Peel despite JP getting their name out there.
As a side thing I was in cycling team called T Rex. I wasn’t sure how the name about, was it because the guys who started were fans of Mark Bolan or because we were a load of old dinosaur.
