His argument is why haven't they focused a telescope on the landing site and shown pictures of the footprints and the rover they left behind etc.

Ashamedly - I haven't followed the thread. But...

I'd like to add that for 3800 years the Pyramid of Khufu was the tallest human-made structure on earth. For almost four millennia mankind did not have the wish or wherewithal to go higher. It won't surprise me if it takes a while before we replicate or improve upon 20 July 1969.
