Mrs D thinks I'm odd because I wear a watch in bed. Usually my faithful G shock, but also my Traser, Garmin and Tudor all get the odd look in. I put it down to a habit formed in the Army, when sods law said I'd draw an 0200-0400 stag.

So do you wear a watch in bed? Is it weird, or sensible? Why do you do or dont do do it?

I used to be a compulsive watch checker. One morning, about thirty three years ago, I didn't put it on. Liberation! I bought a watch on eBay about ten years ago because I liked it as piece of engineering. It was a knock-off copy that cost £25. I gave it to my wife a couple of days later.

You simply don't have to wear one. Give it a go, and free yourself from anxiety and slavery.

Edit: Hang about. I feel an overwhelming desire to create a slowmotion dynasty.

She may not be the only one...

I only wear a watch in bed in a youth hostel when I have its alarm set and want to be able to turn it off quickly so as not to wake everyone else up.

I can see the practical purpose, but I sleep with my arms under me sometimes and it's just too uncomfortable.

I always wear a watch. Except in bed. Don’t know why. They are kept on my bedside table. First thing I do in the morning when getting dressed is put a watch on.

I only wear a watch in bed if I'm on holiday and need to know where it is and what the time is . Sometimes it is nice to let that area of your wrist breath at times.

Is this survey just about wrist watches or can pocket watches be included ?

Watches go wrong on me. Digital ones the display goes off and mechanical ones lose time/run slow on me.

Haven’t worn one for about 20 years. I can tell the time by the position of the Sun. Get with the Nature. Man.
