Just think how many lives could be saved if all the ditches were filled in.

Im not sure any lives would be saved. There would, however, be a significant increase in people being found dead on a suspiciously flat bit of ground next to the road.

But back to the thread subject. Due to the nature of how bicycles work, I've always regarded it as a very small window for being unable to control the bike due to the effects of alcohol. Generally you are either able to ride just fine or you fall off off badly. Similarly for drunk in charge, you can't be that drunk if you can ride a bike without falling off.

It’s when you try and ride a wheel barrow home that you know you’ve had too many.

...or a shopping trolley. It didn't end well...

Riding a bike home from the pub drunk is one thing. Going to the pub on a bike in the first place, I suppose, isn't that shocking.

But one wonders why anyone would go to the pub in a wheelbarrow or shopping trolley!!

I suppose if your bike in in for repairs, then a wheelbarrow or shopping trolley would be most peoples alternate steed of choice. Makes complete sense, lol.

A friend was in an advanced state of refreshment, and declared herself unwilling to walk home.
Shenanigans ensued...

These were methods of transport utilised to get home. A rite of passage for anyone who was young once. I am sure, somewhere in the country, this will be happening tonight.
