Went for a short one last night. Was still decent temperature, but Sun was dropping and I knew that temperatures would soon follow, so I dug out a long sleeve jersey. I knew that it might initially be too warm, as its fleece lined, but thought it would be better later.

Mesh base layer underneath to create an air gap and to wick away sweat. Mesh on bib shorts too.

Still amazes me how great this kit is at wicking away the sweat. I felt bone dry throughout, despite fairly warm. Got home and changed and base layer dry but bib shorts holding all the sweat perfectly. Back was bone dry and jersey was a tiny bit damp where it was slowly evaporating out.

The things that we take for granted these days!

Yes, polyester is amazing in that way but it sure stinks quickly.

I wear a nike dri-fit shirt and Endura Helium jacket paired with some Endura Hummvee shorts. The Helium could have a bit more ventilation but im far from being 'boiled-in-a-bag' toasty. I just pull the zipper down when im on slow parts of my commute for better ventilation then zip up when going down hills where i can hit 27mph otherwise i'd look like the michelin man as my jacket is white.

Ive got an Endura Windchill II on standby for those colder commutes home. a decent base layer paired with that should be perfectly fine for 8-10'c. I do think i should stock up on long sleeved baselayers cuz at the moment i have none lol

Depends on how often you wash them, I guess?

Can't say mine stink, but then I wash after every ride.
Dunno, every item of polyester I ever bought smelled after one wear, and the smell would not go with washing. Maybe depends on one's ... erm ... perspiration :girl:
