Anyone been on an Exodus (or similar) cycling holiday in Nepal by any chance? Hoping to sort something out for Autumn 2011 and would be interested to hear about any special cycling preparation people took/wished they'd taken. Capable fitness-wise of cycling 100k on the road without much problem, albeit in Cambs/Beds/Herts/Essex; however not used riding days back to back days. Compared to UK the heat will also be a big factor I assume?
Any thoughts/experience/advice is greatly appreciated.
I've just come back from Nepal. Was great cycling. My trip also included Tibet (thread on here), but cycling in Nepal was much more enjoyable. Great undulating and scenic roads, interesting villages, loads of friendly people.
The time of year makes a big difference. I did a ride in late August when the monsoon was still going and it was wet. Only wore one layer as it was nevertheless warm. Then, after Tibet, riding in mid-September was great. Sunshine and no more rain. Still hot sun but comfortable, like summer in France, not stupidly hot.
It's a great place to cycle. I would certainly go back and I think Autumn is the best time.
Can't think of any major preparation required. I appreciated having mudguards on the bike when it was raining. There were a few landslides to negotiate so you may want some reasonably wide tyres.
