Years ago I rented a hybrid type bike near the entrance to Central Park for a couple of hours, was fine, if a bit dull going round the park a few times!
Probably used a company like this https://centralparkrentbike.com/ but these guys have roadbikes (spendy though)

Aren't there lots of cycleways there now? But the closest I've ridden was Central Park, a long long time ago, so I've no recent experience.

Yes ! But its just so manically crazy between cars, taxi's, horses, skateboarders, addicts in haze scouring their next hit etc.....

If you gotta commute - you gotta commute. But doing it for the hell of it ? Maybe once as a cycling experience. But not
my idea of fun per-se......

Sadly the latter point was made to me by a colleague. It is alleged that since the pandemic, Times Sq has become a bit of an addict hang out trying to beg and pinch.

I can believe it tbh. When we stayed in 2016, just off Times Sq, every street corner around there had someone pedalling dodgy handbags without even so much as a stall or cart to make it seem legit.
