Hi there

I'm thinking of taking a week off work during the winter months. Where would be good to go cycling? Somewhere that is easy to get to? Canary Islands perhaps?

Canaries are perfect around the turn of the year.

Canaries very windy for cycling apparently

Not necessarily. Tenerife wasn't an issue at Easter this year. Lanzarote can be, but depends how lucky you are - I had a moderately windy holiday there but still managed plenty of cycling.

Can't speak to other Canary Islands though.

Canaries are brilliant, Ive been going for the last 3 years with https://tenerifebiketraining.com/tours/

If you love climbing then Tenerife is the place to go. Im going again this winter for my 6th time. We stay in the south at a nice popular large hotel. Mt. Teide is awesome

Not really, Ive been to Gran Canaria and Tenerife. These islands have parts which can be windy but for most they aren't that windy. Tenerife is fine for the most part especially climbing Mt Teide. Coastal roads can be windy, but offers a good workout

The famous windy island is Lanzarote

Tenerife is absolutely the perfect cycling location with some truly spectacular riding, but that comes at the cost of requiring serious climbing legs as there are no easy options anywhere on the island.

The shock of returning back to Glasgow in midwinter after riding in 25'C might put you off cycling here forever though...
