Hello!

I'm doing a survey on what motivates people to cycle, for any purposes, in the UK. The data collected will be used for my MSc psychology project. Please take a look when you have spare time, participation will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Update: Many thanks to everyone who kindly took part. I've now closed the survey with 240 responses collected!

Here's a poster showing what I've found. The responses show there are five groups of motivators for cycling. Daily cyclists scored higher on all except 'Sports and socialising' compared to non-daily cyclists. Please feel free to share what you think about the results! (I can't make the resolution any higher, sorry)

Done. It's a pleasure to complete a nicely written survey and best wishes for your studies.

Oh, and I'm an External Examiner for an accredited OU degree at one of their partner colleges.

Noted (the mods get a system alert), but you have put your real name on the survey.
This could cause privacy issues for yourself.

I have filled the survey.
Tbh, the questions seem a bit vague without a contest.
One question could be worked on: cycling saves you money - some of us hold an OAP bus pass, but still commute to work, or cycle for utilitarian reasons ^_^

Thank you for your time.

I don't mind people on this forum finding out my real identity, but it's because I made the mistake of using the same username on a different forum where I've said more private things. I've been trying to get them removed but to no avail so far.

Anyway, I've justed signed up for Brevet Cymru in May, so if anyone's also coming, say hello!

I've completed it as well, although I wasn't completely sure what you could glean from some of the questions.

Probably says more about me than your survey, so best of luck with it.

On an individual level it doesn't tell me much, i.e., I'm not trying to find out what kind of cyclist each respondent as an individual is. Rather, what I'm looking for are patterns arising from a large sample, to see how the responses are related to each other.

Done. Not a UK resident (but that's answered in the questions).
A good, clear survey. Well done.
My only issue was "cycling event". That might be a bit vague and understood in different ways by different people.
Best of luck with your studies! Psychology is very interesting.
