As some folk will already know its been thunderstorms in the east of England today so I skipped my group ride this morning and fired up TrainNow (TrainerRoad's work out adviser). Just when I was thinking it had dried up nicely and I would make it an outdoors workout and go out and get back before the TdF finish, the skies opened again
:cloud_with_lightning_and_rain:
. So I watched the TdF and set up the bike on the fixed fork rollers and did the Z2 workout.

It was pretty warm though:

Thankfully (

) it was too sticky for the sweat I was covered in to drip off the body!

Gendarme +3 was in my calendar tonight (2 Blocks of 15 x 30on/20off). A couple of the On’s were through ‘S’ bends or downhill or when I had to give way to traffic but on the whole I’m happy with it. Although I could have done with the intervals being a tad longer to push my MHR over 90%

Kept it at circa 75% after that so I’d get home before dark. A few times I thought about short cuts but I decided to stay on better roads and avoid the Holme level crossing (I was there for 6 trains, 20+ mins last week). I quite pleased with how it went considering it was all into a headwind,

Nice. I'm the same - although I'm only 73-75kg, I've got 650-700W 1-minute power so I'm reasonably good at very short hillclimb races. Zwift thinks that my FTP is about 305W, but that's only because my riding style is flattered by the ramp test. I used to be a fair time-triallist (in the late 90s, before it became an out-and-out aerodynamic arms race), but, with the pressures of family life limiting long endurance rides over the last 15 years, that's not so much the case now!

A Z1/2 Recovery Session for me tonight down to the old Conington Airfield for what is normally a traffic free loop except tonight for some reason a 7m artic lorry decided to turn into it before I did and promptly got stuck.

Fortunately he stopped to try and figure out if he could do a turn in this junction and I got by.

He then appeared again and I went Z4 for a bit to a narrower and twistier bit of the road which goes over a narrow bridge. Good Luck to him getting over that!

Sounds like we are very similar in terms power profile and riding styles.

I was out in the rain earlier. I am in between training periods, and thus just having fun out there.
