I have one about 15 minutes cycle away in Talbot Green, another about 20 minutes cycle away in Bridgend, and several in Cardiff.

It's just bonkers the exact same part was twice the price at Euro, and Euro delivered it to Halfords for me to collect. Just shows sometimes.

One of the reasons I chose my van/car, is that it's based on a very common vehicle and the 'platform' is also shared by many cars from the group, so parts can be had very cheaply, even the OEM quality stuff.

I assume there will be a significant rebate between euro and Halfords

Similar with B&Q. A seller on their web site was charging a hefty P&P for home delivery or free collection from a B&Q store. Duly collected from the store with it in a Jiffy bag deliveried on its own to the store.

I think ive mentioned before...

When I was principal MTB trainer for our force I arranged the maintenance fkr the fleet and kept records, as required by PUWER. I used an LBS but the bean corners at the dream factory made me switch tk a local Halfords as it was cheaper (note cheaper, not less expensive.)

First batch of bikes went in for a service and minor repairs and one ca,e back with both cranks pointing in the same direction. Even the twits at HQ could see that wasn't a clever idea, and allowed me to use the LBS again. In the end they got me and a couple of the lads at the forde garage Cytec trained, so I could do running majntenance and they could do the big jobs and servicing. And I got to drink their tea.

Edinburgh is apparently the nearest, over 2 hours cycle away.

Which is fine if a broken bike isnt the reason you need Halfords in the first place.

With things like that I do sometimes wonder if a few weird handshakes were part of the decision

or worse

because it often makes very little sense and it looks good to use local small businesses

I suppose Halfords might be cheaper
but I would also wonder about the manager at the local workshop not doing extra checks for a contract like that!
