that woman and her husband were well out of order, they should have thrown the book at her and not allowed her behind the wheel of a car for years, and gave the husband the community service cleaning the rubbish of our roads

It's crazy that once your labelled 'depressed' it's some sort of excuse but clearly from the first few lines isn't depression more intent. Isn't that what judges punish you on?

Williams said after the Pontlliw incident that she had merely been trying to scare the cyclist.

If she has mental health issues she should be sectioned under the mental health act as she has already proven she is a risk to the public, shocking.

I've suffered from clinical depression, and I know a lot of others who have, but it's no excuse for her behaviour. She should be banned from driving for at least 5 yrs or even life imo, and the same for her husband who should be held responsible seeing as she was driving on a provisional license, as well as being guilty of assault.

No offence was meant by my comment sometimes the way a person feels you can't help it there been times I've felt low whether depression who knows.

But what I was trying to get across is does irrationality get in the way? Or is it after something has happened they look at possible causes with depression being a route? No doubt rates of depression are increasing how do we judge someones doing on depression. You can't measure the level of depression in someone it's a qualitative task.

Only reason why my comment was said was highlighted in the report I quoted that she knew what she doing.

I resigned myself to accepting our courts give ridiculously lenient sentences a long time ago. I particularly hate the blatant misuses of mitigation too - oh no, I've been caught, what can I use as an excuse...

I particularly hate the excuse "M'lud, yes my client committed the theft, but in his defence he is a drug addict stealing to fund his habit". Surely it should be the prosecutor saying "M'lud, the accused is not just a thief, but also a drug user stealing to fund his habit".

I dont really know where to start with that article. The only thing in the defense of the appaullingly inadequate punishment, is that whatever happened to her its unlikely to deter other motorists from doing similar things. Scaring cyclists, screaming, punishment passes, throwing things at cyclists from cars are too common and rarely punished in any way, so people will continue to do it regardless of the punishment in the rare event it knocks down or kills someone, because theyre idiots and dont think of what could go wrong. Using the arguement of "just trying to scare the cyclist" says it all really. Apparently in her mind, swearing in front of kids is terrible, but using cyclists as target practice with a bottle and later a car is a fine example to set.

I share the sentiments of all the above posts. In particular this gem stood out for me: "She denied her driving had been dangerous but conceded it had been careless"

It amazes me sometimes how deluded some people are. If deliberately knocking someone off their bike, injuring them and destroying their property is not dangerous, then what is? [Of course I realise that such logic is wasted on these cretins].

Another massive understatement was: "She concedes that this incident must have had frightening and distressing effect on Mr Marshall and his wife"

No s... Sherlock!!!
